9th May. Flooring Day one ... cement base removed ...

9th May. The cement base of the fireplace was removed. Of course there were problems! The floorer thought the base would only be 2-3inch but it was about 6inch. He used a hammer drill to remove it but it took all day. Now more cost over run but I must say it looks better. He is going to remove some floorboards that the kitchen cupboards will be on and replace them with other boards then he can reuse the old one to cover the hole and stagger the floorboards that are nearby.
